More Washi Examples

Morning ladies!! I had some fun with some Sawyers Place washi and gesso last night! I simply layered the page up with washi and the popped some gesso over it. I used a scrap piece of corugated card to spread the gesso and it gave it a nice line effect. I've also used washi to cover my wooden Studio Calico hexagon borders - cool huh? And it look slike it took ages, but it really didn't. I simply ripped 1cm long bits of washing and wrapped them around each hexagon side - sounds laborious, but it was really quite quick!! That's one of the great things about washi - it's just so versatile and quite quick to work with!!

Giveaway Time!!

Ok, so i promised a giveaway earlier in the week and here it is!!! Hands up if you like washi tape?!!! I know i do, and recently Sawyers Place sent me 3 rolls to play with for them, but i already had them!! So, i thought i'd give you guys a chance to play!!!

First, i thought i'd share a few pages with some yummy Sawyers Place washi!!

I did this page recently, based on a page by the very talented Mel over at Somewhere To Scrap - I used a craft knife to cut out lots of sections of the spiderweb background and then filled the sections with washi tape and scrap patterned paper. Then i finally mounted it on a piece of red patterned paper. Cool, huh!! Something i love about washi is that you can add small amounts of colour without breaking up a whole piece of patterned paper!!

Here's another layout i've done with some yummy green spotty washi!! See how it just adds a touch of extra colour!! So fun and easy :D

But you don't have to use washi as just a small accent - it can be a major part of your page!! Check out what i've done on this page - i've basically used washi as patterned paper!! Plus, washi makes an incredibly quick and easy banner - you just have to fold a piece over some string and trim it!!!

I've got loads more examples of how to use washi, but i'll stop there :D

Here's the three washi tapes i've got up for grabs:

A very scrappy weekend!!!

Last weekend i went on the Scrapboutique Coffs Harbour retreat and it was AWESOME!!!! It was so lovely to sit and scrap totally uninterrupted, and to be able to just leave it when ever i wanted to, without worrying about the kids getting into it!!! I got LOADS done, especially some November challenges!!! I can't share them all in one post, so i'll just share the ones that need to be linked to my blog today - and hopefully i'll get to share the rest later in the week.

ALSO THIS WEEK - i have a giveaway coming up!!!! Some yummy Sawyers Place WASHI TAPE!!!! Stay tuned :D

Here's my take on this month's sketch at Once Upon A Sketch:

Purple Pumpkin had a sketch this month too, and here's how i interpretted it - it was a sketched with lots of layers and i moved the layers around a little :D I used a super cute yellow butterfly button, plus a vinyl red heart that i got in a mystery pack last year! The flowers are all hand made thanks to the Tim Holtz distressed flowers Bigz die!!!

Saturday Sketches

Evening all!! Thought i'd share a couple of challenge sketches that have been released today.

Firstly, the 'once upon a... sketch' blog has teamed up with 'colour stories inspiration' for this month's challenges!! This means there will be 4 challenges instead of their usual 1, and you only have 9 days to submit them, rather than the whole month!

Here's the first challenge:

For this challenge, you must use :
*the SKETCH provided
* all the colours in the SCHEME
* at least 2 elements from the EVIDENCE
* at least 1 element from the TESTIMONY!

So, don't forget that this challenge is due 2pm Monday 17th September :D

The second sketch i'm sharing today is the 2nd Kaisercraft Blog Saturday Sketch for September - you have until the end of this month to submit this one :D Now, for some reason they haven't put an actual sketch up, just a layout. They will probably fix this later in the week, so check out the blog before you do it to be sure :D

One more sketch left - The Stuck?! sketch for September is too fabulous not to share:

Isn't it great? Simple but effective - and leaves lots of room for interpretation!!

I had a lovely afternoon at my LSS 'Somewhere to Scrap' doing my monthly Krafty Koncepts class. This is such a fab class and what a fab shop - i can't recommend it enough - their range is unreal, and such a pleasure to shop in as it's light and airy and well laid out. Plus, they have a coffee shop within the shop so you can have a cappuccino while you scrap!!! Love it :D

She's My Girl

How are you going with the monthly challenges so far? I've done two :D

The first one is for the Purple Pumpkin blog challenge which was using this sketch:

I don't really do circles, so i kinda ignored that bit - instead i used a square - edging with black card stock. I've used the black cardstock to edge all of my elements - this is a trend i've noticed recently and it's kinda cool! The PP i've used is some of the She Art papers (LOVE THESE!!!) plus a bit of old basic grey. I've used some ink gold to create the background behind the journaling and my embellies are a mix of Purple Pumpkin and Prima :D

The second challenge i've completed is the Scrap Boutique stylist challenge "Use at least 5 layers of different product on a layout" I LOVE layering right now, so this seemed like a no brainer for me, but i don't really like what i ended up with. Nevermind! Move on :D

The layers i used were - PP background, misting, washi tape, a journal spot (the section that says "You can never have too much happy" is from a Simple Stories 5"x7" set of journal spots - they are very cool!! You can pretty much build a page around them!!), plus lots of embellies :D
